With the growing concern of allergies, Allergy Amulet is entering the wearable field to provide some beautiful help.
The tracker looks like a necklace, but it really is a life-saving device.
The device only watches out for pollens and other airborne allergens. No step counting, calories burned or floors climbed. But this could be more helpful to some than all the other fitness trackers out there. Their website states:
The Allergy Amulet is a rapid, portable, point-of-consumption allergen detection device. The device will enable simple, mobile measurements to help individuals avoid inadvertently ingesting target allergens.
“The Allergy Amulet is a rapid, portable, point-of-consumption allergen detection device.”
Not only would this be helpful for personal use, but also for a mother if her child suffers from allergic reactions. If they are together, she would know if the allergens are in the air, and possibly prevent some type of reaction.
The website does not have any pictures, but there have been a few floating around on their Instagram page.
It appears that the tracker itself is placed into a vial in order to detect the actual readings. It does not appear to provide instant notifications.
I am a little surprised there is not some built in technology that automatically reads the allergens in the unit, and sends a signal or alarm to the wearer. This would provide a more immediate response to any dangers. Maybe we will see this in the next generation of the device.
Wearable.com is reporting the device should be available sometime early next year. Until then, allergy sufferers will have to rely on the old fashion way of measuring. Sniff, sniff!
